Salaam Kashmir

Salaam Kashmir

Overview

Cine Shore Rating:
2.0 Tedious and boring.

PLOT

The film deals with Sreekumar (Jayaram) and his family who live a usual life. Things change when a certain Tommy Eapen Devassy (Suresh Gopi) enters their lives. The consequences that happen thereafter is what Salaam Kashmir. What was Sreekumar’s past and what exactly happened then?? The film has the answers.

PERFORMANCES

Jayaram tries his best to look convincing. He is your usual family guy in the first half . But the poor character of him made him look forced and struggling. But was okay in the later half. Suresh Gopi did a special appearance, and he is effective in his role. But one expects a power packed Suresh Gopi who returns to the big screen after a hiatus, but as his role is limited some may leave the hall wanting more from him. Mia doesn’t have much to do, but she looks beautiful especially in the song sequences. There are many supporting casts like Vijayaraghavan, Krishnakumar etc., and they are all fine.

STORY – SCREENPLAY – DIRECTION

First of all the story itself is a biggest failure. Thus there is no much scope for a proper screening. The screenplay in the first half aims at bringing comedies, but it is a complete misfire as it looks forced and artificial. But it is comparatively better in the second half. There is no homework done by writer Sethu for a grand film like this. Direction..? One might think that is he watching a Joshiy film, who always saves even an average screenplay. He doesn’t get any space for direction in the film and thus disappoints.

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

Cinematography is an asset which captures the ethnic beauty of Kashmir, but was routine in the first half. Music department is another failure with poor songs and background musics. Editing is okay. Fights which should have been a highlight remains average here. When the Backbone of a movie writing is collapsed, there is hardly anything to do for a technical team and Salaam Kashmir is an exact example for that.

ANALYSIS

First half of the movie disappoints big time which doesn’t have any standard. In simple words its a big bore. But things are better in the second half. Thanks to the Kashmir locales and military set up. Overall its a disappointing flick in all means and deserves a skip.
