7th Day

7th Day

Overview

Cine Shore Rating:
3.0 Decent Thriller

PLOT

A mystery took place on a Christmas day at our hero David Abraham (Prithiviraj) encounters two guys unintentionally and what happens further is said in the film.

PERFORMANCE

Prithviraj once again delivers a riveting performance as David Abraham. Once again he pulls off the role of a cop with utmost ease and charisma. His looks are another add on. Janani Iyer is okay as he female lead. Tovino Thomas of ABCD does a neat job. Vinay Forrt gets a notable role and he is also good.

STORY – SCREENPLAY – DIRECTION

The story of the movie is quite complicated and the screenplay has many layers to bring the mystery and keep up the suspense factor. But when looked closely, one feels that the writing could have been better which could have been raised the bar further. The scenes around the young actors in the movie looks contrived and thus lacks the genuinity. Nevertheless, it is okay and the director has succeeded in keeping the ‘twist’ to an extent (which sounded like a recent Tamil Film) . Debutante director Shyamdhar does an okay job but has approached a filmy way of narration rather than sticking onto a realistic way like what a Mumbai Police did.

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

Sujith Vasudev once again shines with his camera and this time he has gone for a complete dark shade to bring the mystery factor. Vivek Harshan’s editing is alright, but there are few scenes which tests the patience like those involving the youngsters in the movie. Production values are fine. There is a couple of songs but none of them impresses. Deepak Dev’s Background score is good.

ANALYSIS

The first half is decent with a good interval punch. The tempo goes down in the second half slightly but the suspense factor and the way it has executed elevates the movie to a good extent. Some improvisations in writing and few genuinely in the characters would have been made 7th Day a brilliant one. Despite of this, it’s a decent thriller and is a good watch for those who like thrillers.
