Overview

Cine Shore Rating:
3.0Our Picks : Bhoochodae, Gala Gala, Sweety.

01. Bhoochadae

Singer : Shreya Ghoshal, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen

First song from the album is full on energy with powerful rendering from Shreya. She carries it till the last effortlessly and both male have least to do here. Still they gives a good finish. Percussions like Drums are always Thaman’s strong hold, and he once again uses it effectively. The harmonium bits in between are refreshing. Lyrics helps to elevate the Hero character with lines like ‘Tsunami ke Binamode’.

02. Gala Gala

Singers : Siddharth Mahadevan, Rabbit Mac

A refreshing hip-hop number. It will be one of the rare compositions from Thaman were he uses many instruments together. Be it the guitar strings, the slow beats, or the flute bit after the beginning or the ‘Naadaswaram’ which comes the halfway, he nicely infused Carnatic bits into the western style. Parts with English lyrics also looks good.

03. Cinema Choopistha

Singers : Simha, Varikuppala Yadagiri

A fast paced one, aimed at masses. Beats are typical but the guitar riffs gains energy. But the chorus work is loud at times which could have been limited. Tunes are average and is just a rehash of Thaman’s previous ones. An average track.

04. Sweety

Singer : Dinesh Kanagaratnam, Megha

Another soulful track and more of a melodious one. Just like the Gola Gola song this one also has a western influence. Off late, Thaman shows a good promise with these kind of tracks in between the massy ones. Male vocals suit perfectly with the tune and thus remains the biggest positive for the song. The English rap portions are a big asset. There are some soothing key plays too . Will remain the best song from the album.

05. Down Down Duppa.

Singer :Thaman, Shruti Hassan

A track with the vocals from the composer himself and the female lead from the movie, Shruti Hassan. A peppy dubstep mostly relying on the vocals. The portion with ‘Down Down Duppa’ lines are good. Shruti’s voice has been mixed quite more than what was needed. Apart from that a decent party number.

06. Race Gurram

Singer : M.M Manasi, Usha Uthup, M.M Monisha

The last song from the track. Begins promisingly with an intriguing trumpet followed by a good Hindi Chorus but suddenly falls into a routine mass number with the female vocals coming in. Though sung decently, the vocals at times looks out of place. An okay number which could have been better if gone with the beginning.

VERDICT

One expects an album, full on energy and beats from an Allu Arjun flick as he is one of the best dancers in the industry and Race Gurram is no exception in that. Though a couple of the songs is routine in beats Thaman this time tries more on freshness, and it can be seen in most of the tracks. Also, he holds it up with nifty selection of the Singers and the energy quotient. When two songs are high on melody, three goes massy and one, a party number. Thus Thaman has tried to satisfy youth and masses alike and has succeeded to an extend. Also it can be said as Thaman’s recent best after ‘Greek Veerudu’
